Pepsi at Songkran: 20 Wrapped Tuk-Tuks Owning Bangkok’s Busiest Corridor

Songkran shuts Bangkok’s centre to normal media and turns it into a three-day street festival. Pepsi did not advertise around it — it joined the parade, running 20 fully wrapped tuk-tuks giving free rides along the CentralWorld–Silom corridor and generating an estimated 600,000 impressions in three days. Here is how that tuk tuk advertising bangkok plan was put together.

The brief

Songkran is the single biggest moment in the Thai beverage calendar and the hardest to buy into. The crowd is outdoors, soaking wet, phones away, moving on foot through closed streets.

Static sites get passed. Digital gets ignored. Pepsi needed to be inside the festival rather than adjacent to it.

Twenty tuk-tuks were wrapped end to end in Pepsi livery and put to work on the corridor between CentralWorld and Silom — the densest pedestrian route in the city over Songkran.

The vehicles were not just moving posters. They carried people for free, cold product in hand. That converted a media impression into a favour, at the exact moment a soaked, tired festival-goer most wanted one.

The results

An estimated 600,000 street-level impressions over the three days, and 3,840 passengers physically carried in a branded vehicle.

Those two numbers do different jobs, and we report them separately on purpose. The 600,000 is reach, and it is an estimate — a wrap has no playback log. The 3,840 is a count of people who spent several minutes inside the brand, which is a far deeper interaction than any impression figure describes.

Tuk-tuk wraps are part of MotionReach’s mobility ooh bangkok range alongside taxi wrap advertising: the vehicle becomes the media, so the brand moves with the crowd instead of waiting for it. Wrap impressions are estimated, while screen formats such as dooh bangkok are verified. A full single-vehicle takeover is covered in our vehicle wrap advertising case study.

Why it workedAt a festival, usefulness outperforms visibility. A free ride bought Pepsi minutes of goodwill where a static site would have bought a glance.
